In the fall of 2007, L.A.C.E.S. began its first soccer league in an urban community of Monrovia, Liberia, called Matadi. As the Matadi league continued to develop and grow, an opportunity came about to expand LACES and start a new league in a rural village in the interior of Liberia called Konia.

Soon after the commencement of the Konia league in the Spring of 2008, plans to start a league in another urban community in Monrovia began to develop. Then in the Fall of 2008, these plans became a reality, and a third L.A.C.E.S. league was established in the DuPort Road community of the city.

Now in the midst of 2009, L.A.C.E.S. is proud to watch a committed and capable Liberian staff manage the leagues overseas as we explore new opportunities to expand in the U.S.

L.A.C.E.S. is currently serving...

  • 30 teams
  • 317 children
  • 56 coaches
  • 8 staff memebers being empowered to positively impact their future generations.

MEET OUR STAFF in LIBERIA

James is a native of Liberia and quickly grasped the L.A.C.E.S. mission and vision and has passionately been integral part of the success of our programs.  James has his associates degree in business, but unfortunately when civil war broke out in Liberia, he was forced to put his education on hold in order to survive the war.  In the fall of 2008 James began purusing his Bachelor's degree in Management with a minor in accounting at the Unviersity of Liberia.  James has chosen to invest his time in rising up positive role models throughout Liberia and sees his work as an opporutnity to raise up strong and moral leaders to help prevent future conflict in Liberia.  He has his wife Miatta have 3 children.

Pastor Roberts is a nativve of Liberia and felt called to ministry in 1995.  Pastor Roberts is the founder of the Acts of the Aposltes Ministries in Monrovia, Liberia.  In August of 2008 Pastor Roberts graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology from Global University.  Roberts believes in the L.A.C.E.S. program because he has experienced a nation of youth without morals and values and believes that the L.A.C.E.S. program can change children to prevent future turmoil.  His role in L.A.C.E.S. is to make sure that coaches and staff are being mentored so they are equipped with the resources and knowledge to pass those values onto the children.  He and his wife Mydea have 3 boys and a baby girl.
